Photo 13 – Sundowner
Location: Okavango Delta, Botswana
Date: June 29, 2017
Description: Spotted hyena at sundown (Crocuta crocuta)
A spotted hyena relaxing by the water as the sun goes down. People generally think of hyenas as purely scavengers. This is not true despite the fact that they will steal a kill from a lion, leopard or cheetah. Hyenas are highly intelligent social animals that are excellent predators in their own right.
